Testimonials:
I saw Amy P. once a week for some of the best months of my life. My experience in receiving Chinese medicine treatments from her contributed greatly to my decision to pursue Chinese medicine as a career myself. For those who don't know, the journey to becoming a Chinese Medicine practitioner involves a 3.5+ year, 50K commitment. If that doesn't speak to Amy P's abilities as a practitioner, and to the power of Chinese medicine, then I don't know what else to say.
Amy was able to relate uniquely to me as an individual while maintaining a professionalism that fully earned my trust, admiration and respect. She taught me new ways of viewing my health and my body, and even helped me understand key principles of Chinese medicine. I also greatly appreciated her 15 years of nursing experience, as it enabled me to relate my past experiences and diagnoses in western medical terms.
Not only did Amy P. help me wave goodbye to years of intestinal warfare and seasonal allergies, but she gave me a newfound sense of appreciation for my collection of shoes, which-as it turns out-are WAY more fabulous than I had ever given myself credit for.

. . . Amy Petrarca, is definitely the BEST acupuncturist I've ever had. I've had many, since I've been getting acupuncture off and on, mostly on, once a week, for over 7 years. Why is AmyP the best, you ask? It's all about the needling, of course! And AmyP's background as Registered Nurse clearly has enabled her to be a step ahead of most everyone. Never a prick! That my friends is advanced needling, and who do you want to stick needles in you but an advanced needler???
Top it off by the fact that AmyP is a wonderful, delightful person, who dresses fabulous and takes requests and you will be in euphoria after your appointment and quite frankly, as I did for close to a year, plan your life so that you can see her once a week.
If you've never tried acupuncture I think you'll become a regular should you choose to start w/ AmyP ...she makes you feel comfortable and again, she is very talented and charming!

You are in great hands with Amy Petrarca. Amy combines her extensive Chinese medicine training with her years of western medicine experience to provide a competent, comfortable, holistic and pleasant approach to health and wellness. I've had general wellness acupuncture treatments from Amy as well as treatment for a specific injury. Amy needles gently and, for those of you who may like to know the what and how of what she is doing, she'll explain that too. I strongly recommend Amy and her approach to wellness.

I've seen several acupuncturists and Amy is far and away the best. She listens and explains the process and involves you in your own healing process. How often can you say that about your health care provider? She also brings her extensive background as a trauma nurse to her practice - you can tell that she has tremendous empathy for her clients in addition to an interest in their healing.
I had never had acupuncture before Amy, but was considering complementary or alternative medical treatment. if you're concerned about getting involved with something trendy or new age-y, don't worry. Amy explains that TCM is based on scientific principles that she has studied and become certified in. You'll know it immediately when she needles you.
A treatment with Amy could be calming, or energizing, or any number of things, but I promise it will be enjoyable experience! Amy is smart, hip, energetic, and witty - just the kind of woman you'd want as your sister or best friend. Whether you've had acupuncture before or this is your first experience, she'll make you feel comfortable.

Just over a month ago I visited AmyP for my first acupuncture session ever. Although I was a bit apprehensive at the outset of my appointment, AmyP was sure to explain every step of the process before she began and she continued to check on my comfort levels throughout our session. I visited AmyP primarily to address the extreme pain I was experiencing in my right shoulder and upper back as a result of a car accident earlier this year. While AmyP was not able to "clear up" my pain in one session (I wouldn't expect any acupuncturist, masseuse, or physical therapist to be able to do that... although I surely wouldn't complain!) I experienced no pain from her needles during the session and can definitely say that the acupuncture helped prepare me for the massage session I had later that day with another healer.
While I have no other acupuncture experiences to compare with this one, I felt extremely comfortable working with AmyP. She is a professional, knowledgeable healer whose best interest is in helping you improve your health in the most holistic way possible--even if it might mean referring you to someone else. If you have the opportunity to set up an appointment, I would highly recommend Amy Petrarca's services. AmyP will surely take the time to listen to you, evaluate your ailments, and recommend a treatment path that will meet your needs. Thanks!

Fifteen years ago, I was diagnosed with an immune disorder called Lupus. Lupus attacked many of my organs including my kidneys and my lungs. At one point, I lost my kidney function but luckily I regained it after 2 years of chemotherapy treatment. I went to the SF acupuncture school for a treatment because my health was in bad shape again. I had brain surgery the previous month and my kidney function was in danger of failing once again. I was also taking a kidney medication called Cellcept and it was making me feel very ill. Amy was the student who treated me when I first arrived. When she was consulting me, I could not believe they had a student with so much medical knowledge. She understood my health issues better than any doctors I had dealt with. I asked her how she knew so much and she explained to me that she was a nurse in the emergency room at San Francisco General Hospital. After that first visit I booked all of my appointments with Amy. She treated me weekly for a year; she was able to relieve my different health problems I was having at the time. She was not only an excellent healer but also she deeply cared and comforted me. Every time I went to see her I left feeling better. Amy was more than an acupuncturist to me. She became my psychologist, my massage therapist, if that was what I needed; she also became my coach, guiding me how to deal with my doctors. She studied all of my lab work and explained all of the medical problems in detail. She taught me a lot of medical terminology so I was able to discuss important issues with my doctors. Amy gave me courage, she gave me hope and she gave me my health back. By the time Amy graduated from school, my health had improved tremendously. I have not had an acupuncture treatment since and my health has continued to be good. I do things I never thought I could do again like taking care of my 2 grandsons full time, and do some traveling. I am very happy to know that Amy is opening her own clinic. I feel safe knowing that she is available to treat me or any member in my family f they needed it. Amy is the greatest healer I have ever encountered. She is blessed with a high level of consciousness, integrity, love and passion for healing the world.

Amy P gives good Qi!
Amy Petrarca is pretty awesome. I have issues with stress so I decided to visit BiaoHealth Acupuncture for help dealing with my issues. Amy was recommended by a friend, so I made my first appointment for treatment.
Amy was very detailed and asked thorough questions about my lifestyle, stress, health, conditions, etc. She took the time to create the full picture of of my health in order to move forward with treatment. She explained the needles, the meridians, my Qi, and more.
After my first acupuncture treatment, I felt physically and mentally awesome-- invigorated, yet steady. I had amazing mental calmness and an overall balanced well-being-- my first relief in a long time. In addition to acupuncture, Amy also prescribed traditional Chinese herbs to supplement my treatment.
Amy is a very kind person and caring healer. She totally connects with you on a personal and professional level, and doesn't judge you for "coping" with life-crap by getting wasted (yay!). It's such a benefit that she knows western (as an MS, RN) and eastern medicine, and can navigate between the two.
So far, I've seen Amy 3 times in 2 weeks. I'm so thankful for her help.
Amy P's office, BiaoHealth Acupuncture, is conveniently located in the Glen Park neighborhood, a 5-ish minute walk from BART and close to the 26, 52 & 23 MUNI lines. She has a day for extended hours, so that's really helpful post work -- Saturdays too.

Amy is great!
This is the first review I've ever written. The whole reason I've created this account is so I can give Amy Petrarca a review. She is totally awesome. I have some major health issues for which I need to undergo a procedure, so my friend recommended Amy for acupuncture beforehand - after only one session the most major issue resolved itself.
I've had acupuncture before and Amy is great at needling - my body is highly sensitive and the needles have always hurt before, her technique is virtually painless. I also love that she has a lot of knowledge about Western medicine and offered to go over test results with me.
I'm very picky about alternative health care, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amy.
